W7 Africa bronzer

W7 makeup

I recently reviewed another of W7's boxed products here and have to say I was super impressed with it, considering its price. Who doesn't love a good dupe? And a dupe of Benefit's box o' powders for that matter?

This Africa* powder claims to be an illuminating face powder, and while it certainly is illuminating - aided by the irridescent pink shade - it works best as a blusher in my opinion. As you can see from the swatch on my wrist below, it's too dark and pink to work all over the face...unless that's your thang.

As with the Honey Queen blusher, I did also find this powder doesn't cling to the brush particularly well, but maybe I need to try using one of my Real Technique brushes, as it could be something to do with the brush it comes with (see first picture). Anyhow, this was an absolute dream to swatch as it showed up beautifully on my wrist; you can clearly see it's very pigmented and a much nicer blush shade than an overall face powder. It catches the light just right and makes for a great illuminator on the cheeks.

These W7 boxed products are a good budget-friendly solution if you can't afford to splash out on Benefit's range. While the packaging isn't the most appealing, this is highly pigmented, applies relatively well, and turns out a lovely plummy shade when the brush is swirled around the whole powder, which is ideal for the cooler months. I really feel like I can't complain about this product when it comes in at a mere £4.95. Yes, it may not be as high-quality as Benefit, but there has to be some element of compromise when you're spending a quarter of what you'd usually spend!

Have you tried W7 Cosmetics before? What do you think of this?

  2. I love this shade like an illuminating blusher, definitely don't need highlighter with it. I don't think I could use it all over the face either x

    1. Yeah, agree, I think it's far too dark and shimmery for all-over use!

    1. Thanks, yeah it's far too dark and shimmery to use as a face powder, but I was surprisingly impressed with the pigment for such a budget product.

  6. I think this is a great product for the £4.95 price tag! I love how you can get it to be more of a pinky shade or drown shade depending on the powder you pick up :) xx

    1. Thanks, it's definitely great for the cost! I would recommend it more as a blusher than bronzer though to be honest :)

    1. Thanks a lot for your lovely comment. I haven't tried their eye shadows but I'm sure if they're as pigmented as this, they're great! :)

  9. This looks nothing like the colour I'd imagine it to come out from the look of it in the box, I thought it'd look a lot browner but it's actually quite pretty :) xx

    1. Haha so true...I didn't expect it to be so intense either. Definitely more of a blush shade than a bronzer too :)

  13. At first, when I saw the photos of the blush on the pan, I thought it was going to be pretty "scary" but it swatches beautifully. I need to go out and buy at least a couple things from W7. Been seeing some great products from them on blogs recently. x

    1. Haha, tell me about it. I thought it looked a little garish at first but the colour is lovely on my skin. Again, have to say, I wouldn't use it as an all-over powder...definitely more of a blusher :)
