W7 Cosmetics Kiss Lipstick: Ruby Red

W7 Lipstick Red

Here comes another instalment of my venture into braving it on the lipstick front with brighter, bolder colours. I reviewed the gorgeous Mac Flamingo lipstick and Makeup Revolution's Crime lipstick (great dupe for Mac's Show Orchid by the way) but I haven't quite been brave enough to go bright red yet, until now. With brights, I'm very wary they accentuate the fact I don't have those bright, flash, American-style pearly whites, but I'm a believer (or at least try to be) of making the most of what I have and embracing life a bit. It's too short at the end of the day, so why the helllll not wear a bright red on occasion?

W7's Kiss Lipstick in Ruby Red is the first red I've ever owned, and it's definitely a brighty! Just look at it; highly pigmented and no getting away from it. Packaging-wise, I love the way the W7 logo is embossed in the lipstick itself, and I also appreciate the lipstick colour being integrated as part of the packaging. Great for storage without having to open it to find out which colour it is!

W7 Lipstick Red

Here's a couple of pics of the lipstick applied. I felt quite brave wearing this out, and I think I felt a few eyes on me on occasion, so I hope it was for a good reason and not a 'what IS she thinking?' kinda reason.

W7 Lipstick Red

In terms of the formula, it's smooth and relatively creamy in application, but after a short while I did feel it was slightly drying and my lips felt like they needed a bit of moisture. However, I cannot fault the longevity of the colour. It lasted all damn day, even after drinking coffee and munching on a bratwurst (I live on the German/Swiss border in case you're pulling a 'why bratwurst?' face).

W7 Lipstick Red

All in all, the vivid bright shade and long-lasting factor of this lipstick has really won me over. I felt good wearing it, and it's definitely helping me in my bright-lips mission. I thought it was great and definitely worth the £4.95 it costs.

Do you like this lipstick? Have you tried W7 products before? I'd love to hear what you think!

  6. That colour is gorgeous - a perfect staple red.
If it lasts all day you cannot go wrong! I find even MAC doesn't last all day and that lipstick is 1/3 of the price!
I may have to look into it!

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment. I felt the same about such a bright colour, but I figured other people go for it, so why shouldn't I? :) Standard saying, but life really is too short, so I'm trying to be much braver when it comes to bright lippies...am enjoying it too!

  11. This looks gorgeous!!
And quite similar to my stupidly priced Smash Box one (I'm trying to be braver with my own lipwear too!)
It really suits you and a bratwurst surviving bargain.
